A restaurant's water use is not spread evenly. It arrives in service peaks, and equipment sized for daily average volume will fail exactly when it matters. Sizing is done from peak simultaneous demand.
Point-of-use versus point-of-entry
Often the right answer commercially is targeted treatment: one specification for the coffee equipment, another for the ice machine, another for the dish machine. Coffee equipment in particular has specific requirements — roasters and equipment manufacturers frequently specify target ranges for hardness and alkalinity, because water that is too soft produces flat extraction just as surely as water that is too hard produces scale.
Downtime is the real cost
Cartridge changes and service work often have to happen outside trading hours, and systems are usually specified with isolation valves and parallel capacity so that servicing does not stop the business.

Why the right system depends on your actual water
Commercial specification depends on your water, your peak demand, and the written water requirements of the specific equipment being protected.
This is the reason we test first. Two properties a mile apart in Northwest Arkansas can need entirely different equipment — one on treated surface water from Beaver Lake, one on a private well drawing from fractured Ozark limestone. The physical plumbing installation is completed by an independent plumbing contractor who is separately licensed by the State of Arkansas and carries their own insurance. We coordinate the schedule and stay involved through startup and testing, but the installing contractor is responsible for the plumbing work and warrants their own labor.
Commercial installation is scheduled around the business. Access, isolation and the ability to service during trading hours are design considerations, not afterthoughts.

Permits and code
Plumbing work in Arkansas is regulated, and connecting treatment equipment to a potable supply has to be done to code — including backflow protection and a properly configured air gap on any drain connection. Certifications and performance claims
The same NSF/ANSI standards apply as in residential work — 42, 44, 53, 55, 58, 61 and 372 — with commercial products additionally rated for higher flow and duty.
In food service, equipment manufacturer specifications are often the governing requirement rather than any water treatment standard. Where a warranty specifies maximum hardness, chlorine or TDS, that specification is what the system must meet.
Backflow prevention requirements apply to commercial connections and are a matter for the local plumbing authority.
How we handle contaminant-reduction claims
We will not tell you that a system removes a contaminant. We will show you what a specific model is certified to reduce, and under which standard. Certification is granted for named substances tested under a defined protocol — a product certified for chlorine taste and odour has demonstrated nothing about lead, and a product certified for lead has demonstrated nothing about PFAS unless the listing says so.
Ask any company for the performance data sheet for the exact model they are quoting. If they cannot produce one, that tells you something.

Do you work with restaurants?
Yes. Restaurants, cafes, offices, salons, clinics and multi-family properties are all within scope. The starting point is the same as residential — testing the water — plus a look at what each piece of equipment requires.
My coffee equipment manufacturer specifies water requirements. Can you meet them?
Bring us the specification and we will design against it. Coffee is the clearest example of water treatment needing a target range rather than maximum removal — water stripped of all minerals produces poor extraction, and some coffee systems need minerals added back.
How often do commercial filters need changing?
More often than residential, because volumes are higher. Ice and coffee cartridges typically run three to six months. Where a warranty specifies an interval, that interval governs.
Do you handle multi-family and rental properties?
Yes. The considerations are different — central versus per-unit treatment, who is responsible for maintenance, and how service access works with tenants. Worth discussing before specifying anything.
